GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
When you support an athletic endowment, you give student-athletes something they might not have otherwise had, a shot at a top-quality University of Florida education. Funding an endowment is also one of the most significant ways to insure the future success of the university’s athletic program.
Below is a list of active group-funded endowments that anyone can contribute to at any dollar amount. Donations not attributed to one of these endowments will go into our general “Athletic Education Fund” endowment.
Special endowments to consider:
Leonard George and Willie Jackson, Sr. began their collegiate football careers at the University of Florida in the fall of 1969. Leonard and Willie faced two distinct challenges as they put on Gator helmets for the first time: Leonard and Willie were the first African-American scholarship football players at UF and NCAA rules of the era did not permit freshmen to participate in a varsity game. By 1970, the duo of sophomores competed on the field in a varsity game and sealed their legacy as history-making Florida Gators.
A dedicated group of former Gator football players have come together to mark the 50th anniversary of this milestone by creating an endowed football scholarship honoring Leonard and Willie. The Leonard George and Willie Jackson, Sr. Scholarship Endowment will provide funding for football scholarships in perpetuity and continue their legacy for generations to come. The Leonard George and Willie Jackson Sr. Endowment Committee (John D. Williams, Wayne Fields, Jimmy DuBose, and Melvin Flournoy) want to encourage other Gator athletes to support this endowment.
Flowers have traditionally been the most common sympathy gift. But today, more and more people are choosing to make a memorial donation instead of or in addition to sending flowers to grieving friends. A memorial donation is a charitable gift made in honor of a person who has died. It’s easy to make a memorial donation — all you have to do it choose the “Gator Boosters Memorial Fund” scholarship endowment fund from the options in the payment portal below and the amount you want to give. You are also welcome to send us a check or contact our staff person listed below.
It is almost always appropriate to make a donation in memory of someone who has died. It’s a positive contribution to the world in their honor, and that’s likely to be appreciated by their loved ones. If the obituary requests memorial donations in lieu of flowers, that means the family actively wants people to contribute in their loved one’s memory rather than sending flowers.

A bollard is a concrete fixture that is 19 inches tall by 22 inches in diameter.
Our Bollards line the sidewalks along Gale Lemerand Drive between Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. They also wrap around the James W. "Bill" Heavener Football Complex on Stadium Road. The Gator Bollards now line the way from the O'Connell Center to the Gary Condron Family Indoor Practice Facility.
Each plaque is 12" in diameter with the letters each being ¾" tall. You are allowed three lines of text, each with a maximum of 20 characters (including spaces and special characters).
Each bollard requires a $10,000 contribution to name. This contribution can be a one-time payment or be broken into multiple payments over a five year period. Once the full contribution is met, the plaque will be placed on the available bollard of your choice and the plaque will be made to your specifications.
Yes! The money generated from the Gator Bollard Project is directed to the construction, renovation and expansion of our athletic facilities. You may elect to receive triple points for Football, Men's Basketball or Baseball if you elect for no tax receipt.
